Steven-Charles Jaffe, Producer of GHOST, STAR TREK VI, STRANGE DAYS (with James Cameron)... and Honorary Consul for the Republic of Kazakhstan in Los Angeles, will be hosting a screening of LETTERS TO AN ANGEL, followed by a Q&A with director Ermek Shinarbaev. "Last year at our first Kazakh Film Festival, we screened an epic, mysterious, and beautiful film called MEST (REVENGE) by an extremely talented Kazakh director, Ermek Shinarbaev." Mest was restored by Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Foundation and was screened at the Cannes Classics section of the Cannes Festival. It also won prizes at the Locarno and San Sebastian Film Festivals. On Saturday, August 4th, 7:30PM, as part of this year’s Kazakh Film Festival at the Directors Guild of America, we are proud to be screening another excellent film by Mr. Shinarbaev – LETTERS TO AN ANGEL - a brilliant, psychological thriller. Actor and filmmaker, John Malkovich, when asked what he liked about the film responded, “Everything! It’s extremely well-written, wonderfully directed, it’s a terrific idea and concept, it’s very well shot…and maybe most of all – extremely sophisticated.”
